If you go to a respectable salon, you need to pay a few hundreds for a keratin hair treatment. To pamper your nails, you have to pay around $60, and that is cheap. For a simple spa massage, the price range is $75 to $160, at the least. A decent facial is about $80. Now, if you spend all of that on one weekend, how much will it be? I know! Your entire pay check for the week!
We all want to save up some money but we also want to be beautiful. How can you achieve both without sacrificing the other? Go natural. Check your kitchen cupboards. Open your cabinets. Raid the refrigerator. You will find the best products to use from head to toe.
Hair
Instead of a $300 hair keratin treatment, you can make your own hair conditioning treatment. Mash an avocado really well. Add some lemon juice and mayonnaise to make the mixture paste-like. Put it on your hair evenly and wrap with a towel for up to 45 minutes. Rinse and afterwards, you will feel that you hair is hydrated, healthy and smooth.
Note: Avocado has Vitamin E, Vitamin B-6 and protein. These alone are so much more for your hair compared to a keratin treatment. Mayonnaise is known to repair dry or damaged hair. Lemon juice promotes healthy hair glow.
Face
Have you ever heard of a chocolate facial mask? This mixture can do a lot of things: opens clogged pores, cleanses, and exfoliates. It can also make you happy and in a good mood. How? Chocolate regulates the natural release of serotonin which makes a person at peace. Other than that, chocolate has a big chunk of antioxidant properties – for a cancer-free you. Whoever said that chocolate can cause acne is false. The milk causes acne if combined with chocolate. But chocolate alone, no.
The mixture: 5 tbsp. cocoa powder, 4 tbsp. honey, 2 tbsp. sour cream, 1 tbsp. oats
Apply on your face and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
Body
You can also have a “spa day” at home. Cover yourself in a coffee scrub solution and reap of the benefits.
What you need: granulated coffee, olive oil, your choice of scent (but vanilla works best with coffee) and your choice of herbs or flowers (lavender, ginger, orange peel, lemon peel and etc…)
Apply all over your body, rest for a few minutes. Rub the mixture in a circular motion before rinsing. It will gently exfoliate the skin plus it has caffeine which inhibits cellulite growth and formation of varicose veins. Olive oil is a perfect moisturizer for your skin. The herbs and flowers have added benefits like anti-depressant (orange peel) and relaxation (lavender).
Nails
Do you want stronger nails? You need to beat 2 egg yolks, add 60ml full cream milk and some honey. Dip your nails in the solution for 15 minutes. This will make your nails super strong. (Egg=protein and milk=calcium, need to explain more?)
If you want your hand and feet to be supple, here is one great idea.
Half cup white sugar
2 spoonful of moisturizing lotion – any kind
2 ½ cups of full cream milk
5 cups water (if you want to add more – go ahead)
Heat in a pan the milk and water; add lotion and sugar when it begins to boil. Stir the mixture. Let it cool before soaking your feet and hands.
So now that you know how to make concoctions of beauty recipes at your home, do you still feel the need to go to an expensive salon? Oh maybe yes, once in every few months. Now, you can do your beauty regimen at home for no extra cost since all the ingredients are edible and in your cabinets. Enjoy and have a great time pampering yourself! The best part is, you can invite over your best gals and make it a spa party at home!
