Whenever we see the sale sign on a store’s window, our eyes immediately widen and we feel instantaneous exhilaration come over us. We can’t help but be drawn to that store, and it feels only natural to scan the store like crazy. After all, it’s not every day that a store goes on sale. Before we know it, we’re already clutching five pieces in our arms and trying out even more clothes. By the time you get to the counter, you’ve racked up more than a hundred dollars of purchases you didn’t really want that bad in the first place.
Sales can be quite tricky, we all want them, but we don’t really need them. However, it is quite difficult to resist the temptation because it is only expected of us to be a bit thrilled when we buy anything at a discount. One sensible person once said that, just because an item is on sale doesn’t mean it’s free. Nothing could be truer than that. Most of us focus on the discount so much that we forget that we are actually paying more because we are forking out money for something we didn’t really have any intention of buying, but we get sucked into purchasing it just because it was on sale.
Resisting sales is difficult and it is only human to succumb to temptation. So if you really cannot stop yourself from buying whenever you see a sale sign, at least try to buy the basic pieces which are on sale. Keep away from the trendy pieces because chances are, you will not use or wear them anyway. At least with basics, you will always encounter a day when you don’t have anything to wear and you resort to them. Just remember, a sale is only significant when you find something which you actually wanted, and should not be used as a singular excuse to shop.
